Light is the New Black – Rebecca Cambell
This is a good book. It’s part personal story, part new age book, part personal growth. Like lots of people in this field she had a high powered job, got jack of it and felt empty so threw it all in to get spiritual.
The best part of this book are the fact it’s a nice easy read. Plain language in small and easy to digest articles. Kinda like if you stitched together a blog into a book. It’s also a good introduction to general new agey style thinking about ‘The Universe’. It covers grounding, meditation and journaling work which is nice.
The downside. It’s written by someone who isn’t hard up for money who can just take off to retreats and quit their job to run courses all over the place. Hats off to you if you can but I’m betting 90% of people can’t do that. In that respect it makes the whole thing hard to swallow at times. So to me some parts seemed really unrelatable. The other thing is sometimes it can seem really repetitive. Good for reinforcing ideas. Bad for holding interest at least for me anyways.
All in all not a bad read and if you’re just starting to dip your toe1nto the new age pool it’s a great way to do it.
