Being stood down means that I get back to doing a lot more cooking and today I cooked today like I was still working in cafes prepping for service.

I went through the fridge and found all the stuff going out or soon going out. The meat that was out got cut up for the animals. The veggies got prepped and par cooked so I could make my own frozen broccoli and cauliflower mix. I also have carrots done up on the freezer for roast veg and diced carrots for whatever. Seeing as they’re cooked they’ll keep for a bit and not be wasted. I also got all the tomatoes going squashy and made some pasta sauce with a whole load of basil and garlic.

So if that wasn’t enough I backed that up with pumpkin soup and a banana cake.

I know it sounds like I’ve lost my mind but maybe only partially. See I’m keeping busy and I haven’t quiet reached homemade croissant stage but wait for it. It’s coming. I can feel it.

The thing is that we’ve always had a pretty well stocked pantry and freezer. Now I’m home I’ve had a proper chance to go through it and see what we really have. I have to say we’re lookin pretty good. The extra time lets me become even more of a freak and menu plan to make sure that I can use up the stuff in the freezer and not just keep adding and adding.
